Dallas, TX (AHN) - Dallas gave center Steve Ott a new deal on Tuesday, signing the veteran to a two-year contract extension worth $2.85 million.
Ott has played all his five seasons with Dallas and this year scored a career-best 11 goals on top of 11 assists in 73 games. He also matched his plus-22 rating he set in the 2005-06 season.
The Canadian's original contract was due to end this summer and his new deal, reached as the Stars prepare to eliminate the San Jose Sharks, will keep him in Texas until the 2009-10 season.
"Steve Ott has done a great job of earning this contract and we are very pleased to have him secure in Dallas for the next two years," Dallas co-general manager Les Jackson told CBCSports.ca. "He has developed into a valuable piece in our team chemistry and he brings a solid work ethic to our hockey club, day in and day out."
