Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - A bishop from the National Church of God in the Caribbean has confirmed that he presided over the wedding of singer Mariah Carey to Nick Cannon. There has been speculation for many days over whether or not Carey, 39, and Cannon, 27, have indeed tied the knot.

According to People.com, Bishop Clifford Petty, whose church is based in Eleuthera, in the town of Governor's Harbour, married the couple. He did not say where the wedding took place.

People.com also said that Monique Gomez, a Bahamian attorney in Nassau who specializes in family law reported that to obtain a marriage license a couple must be in the country for at least 48 hours, be over the age of 16 and have obtained a valid marriage license within 90 days o their ceremony.

It has been reported that Carey did obtain a license in Eleuthera within that time period.
