May 6, 2008 12:30 p.m. EST Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service New York, NY (CNS) -Fans of "Sex and the City" are eagerly awaiting the fabulous four's debut on the big screen, but amidst all the anticipation the typical rumors have been flying. One of the biggest rumors is that Carrie's beloved Mr. Big will die in the movie. Director Michael Patrick King told the Associated Press that he can set fans minds to rest - Mr. Big will not die. Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth, has been Carrie's on-again, off-again love interest through the years on "Sex and the City." King told the Associated Press, "Kill Mr. Big? I would have been chased around the planet by women with torches." King wrote the film, and produced it, along with its star, Sarah Jessica Parker. King said the idea of Mr. Big's death was pitched to him early on in an interview. "I did want an emotional roller-coaster," King said. "But my ultimate target was to make our 'girlfriends' - in other words, our audience - happy. And I don't think Mr. Big dying would make them happy." The movie version of "Sex and the City" will open at the end of May, and King offered this tidbit to fans: "It's a summer movie," he said. "Why would I want to kill anyone?"
