May 8, 2008 3:40 p.m. EST Buddy Shacklette - AHN Motor Sports Reporter Concord, NC (AHN) - After missing last week's race the Wood Brothers are going with a known entity. This week at Darlington Raceway former NASCAR Cup champion Bill Elliott will pilot the No. 21 Ford for the Wood Brothers, the longest-running team in NASCAR history. Jon Wood, a seasoned NASCAR Nationwide and Craftsman Truck Series driver, qualified the car for the race at Talladega, but failed to make the race last weekend at Richmond International Raceway. Elliott has been willing to run a partial schedule to assist the longtime Ford team, but isn't interested in running fulltime. Had Elliott been in the car last week the team would've made the race via Elliott's past champion's provisional status. Elliott has finished no worst than 35th, but no better than 26th in four starts for the team this season, but only once has he had to use his past champion's provisional - a driver gets six each season. Former champion Kurt Busch is secured in the top-35 and Dale Jarrett has retired so Elliott will make the race whether he qualifies or not at Darlington.
