Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Late night TV host Craig Ferguson has revealed he is writing a tell-all book about his past drug addictions and depression.

The Scottish born "The Late Late Show" host says his autobiography titled "America On Purpose," will detail his previous jobs as a drummer in a punk rock band, as a club bouncer, and as a construction worker.

The tome will also divulge his past alcohol addiction and his failed suicide attempt. He had claimed that he planned on jumping off the London's Tower Bridge in 1991 but he had forgotten to carry out his suicide plan after he was offered another drink.

He tells New York Post's PageSix that he is penning the book "in the hope that it will inspire other alcoholic, punk-rock drummers from Scotland."

Ferguson, 45, started as a comedian in the U.K. before he shot to fame with "The Drew Carey Show" as Carey's boss from 1996 to 2003. He assumed Craig Kilborn's position on the CBS late night talk show in January 2005.
