Two Charged In $44 Million Scam Against Credit Suisse, Fannie Mae

New York, NY (AHN) - Two loan officers for Olympia Mortgage defrauded Fannie Mae and Credit Suisse of $44 million, the U.S. Attorney's Office here charged Thursday.
Leib Pinter, 64, and Barry Goldstein, 59, described as two former principals of Olympia, were indicted on charges of conspiracy, wire fraud and bank fraud.
In a statement, the U.S. Attorney's office said Pinter is charged in connection with the theft of $44 million of proceeds from the payoffs of refinanced mortgage loans serviced by Olympia.
Goldstein is charged with falsifying loan histories to sell non-performing loans to Credit Suisse First Boston.
Each man faces a prison sentence of up to 30 years if convicted.
