Marie Osmond To Host "America's Favorite Mom" On Mother's Day

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - As the mother of eight children, entertainer Marie Osmond knows all about being a mother. That's why Osmond has been chosen to host "America's Favorite Mom," which will air on Mother's Day on NBC.

Osmond told TV Guide that America already thinks of Donny and Marie and Mother's Day as saccharine sweet, so at first she hesitated when asked to host the show.

Until she learned that she would be honoring stand-out moms in five categories: single moms; working moms; stay-at-home moms; unconventional moms; and military moms. One of the moms will be crowned "America's Favorite" and walk away with $250,000 in cash.

Osmond, who appeared on "Dancing With the Stars" this year, said she is also set to host a syndicated daytime talk show in 2009. She said she will bring a different perspective to the talk show world, as she has eight children, is single and is a working mom.

"America's Favorite Mom" will air Sunday at 7/6c on NBC.
