May 12, 2008 7:15 a.m. EST Preciosa Dumlao - AHN News Writer Chongqing, China (AHN) - At least five people were killed, including four primary school children, when their school building collapsed and at least 100 children were wounded in southwest China's Sichuan province after an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale struck on Monday afternoon. Two school buildings and a water tower collapsed when the quake struck about 2:30 p.m. local time while four children died when quake toppled the Wenhua Township Primary School. The local government said more than 10 children were injured and two were serious at the Central Primary School of Lirang Township in Liangping Country after the earthquake. The provincial seismological bureau spokesman Deng Changwen said another person was killed in Santai Country, Mianyang city when the water tower collapsed. Changwen also said more people were either dead or wounded in Sichuan because many residential buildings collapsed near the Wenchuan County epicenter, in Dujiangyan City.
