London, England (BANG) - Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills have been given a decree nisi. The legal ruling, which allows six weeks for objections against the requested divorce, was made by a judge at London's High Court this morning.

Neither Paul or Heather attended the hearing, which deemed their marriage was over because they had been separated for more than two years.

A decree absolute will formally end the union in six weeks time, allowing the pair to remarry. The settlement in the pair's divorce saw Heather awarded almost $50 million in March.

Meanwhile, Paul has won back 30 valuable paintings from Heather. The Beatles legend - who has a four-year-old daughter, Beatrice, with Heather - originally lent the etchings to the former model to hang in her Brighton home.

Although Heather initially fought in court to keep them, she has now been ordered to return them to the 65-year-old musician.

During the couple's bitter divorce battle, it was revealed Paul stared at his favorite oil painting to forget his troubles. The singer regularly visited north London's Kenwood House art gallery to spend time looking at The Guitar Player - a 17th Century piece by Jan Vermeer.
