New York, NY (CNS) - The charges against Anne Hathaway's boyfriend have been dropped. Raffaello Follieri was declared cleared by the Manhattan District Attorney's office for allegedly issuing a bad check.

Follieri, 29, was arrested in April for allegedly writing a $215,000 bad check. Manhattan DA spokeswoman Tracy Golden explains to People magazine that the Italian property developer was cleared because he had fully reimbursed John Morrongiello the amount he wrote him.

Morrongiello also expressed his disinterest to pursue the case.

Follieri has been dating the "Get Smart" star since 2004. Hathaway had previously told Sunday Times that her boyfriend had been the positive influence who brought her out of a lengthy depression.

She had said in February 2007, "He's brought out so many positive attributes. Before I met him, I wasted so much time. I was just annoying and narcissistic and smelled bad. He's protective without being possessive, passionate without needing to show his temper."
