May 13, 2008 9:01 a.m. EST Preciosa Dumlao - AHN News Writer Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - A ferry boat, carrying more than 150 passengers, has capsized during a storm in northern Bangladesh, leaving at least 32 passengers dead, Bangladesh officials said on Tuesday. The officials said the ferry sank in the Ghorautura River, 115 miles from Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. According to local government administrator Sultan Ahmed, at least 50 passengers were still missing after the fatal incident on late Monday night. Bangladeshi official said at least 25 passengers swam ashore and were safe but others were feared to be dead. Reports said Bangladesh ferries are usually overcrowded and typically unsafe for the passengers because the boats are old and in some case, shoddily constructed.
