Hollywood, CA (BANG) - Tori Spelling will star in the new 'Beverly Hills 90210' spin-off TV show.

The actress - who played Donna Martin in the hit 90s US teen drama - will have a regular role in the programme which will focus on the new principal of West Beverly High School moving his family of four from Kansas to California.

A source said: "She will be a recurring character."

Tori - whose late father Aaron created the original series - has previously spoken of her desire to be part of the new show.

She said: "I would love to be a part of it. I think it's a really good idea. '90210' was really the first of its kind, the first teen drama. It kind of laid the way for other shows like 'Dawson's Creek' and 'The O.C.'"

"Who would I play? I would play the sexy mom obviously! Every teen drama has a hot mom - a stepmother, of course, because I couldn't possibly have a teenage daughter!"

It was recently reported Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor, was also set to appear in the spin-off.

Meanwhile, a website has also launched a campaign to get Shannen Doherty to reprise her role as Brenda Walsh.
