London, England (BANG) - Mario Cantone thinks the world premiere of 'Sex and the City: The Movie' should have been in New York, not London.

The actor - who plays Charlotte York-Goldenblatt's gay friend Anthony Marentino in the movie - believes New York was the obvious choice for event because the city is so integral to the film and hit TV series.

Speaking at the premiere in London's Leicester Square last night, Mario told BANG Showbiz: "It would have been nice for the premiere to be in New York but there you go, that's just the way it goes. But, you know, it's great and the best thing is that everybody is here - no matter where the premiere is."

Mario also thinks the huge popularity of 'Sex and the City' is down to the four very different main characters played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

He added: "The secret to the success of the series is that it's four individual women who are different and beautiful. It is fashionable, emotional, funny and deep and overall beautifully put together."
