Jaipur, India (AHN) - Casualty figures in India continue to rise as 60 people are believed to have been killed in several near-simultaneous bombings in India's tourist hotspot, Jaipur.

Authorities now believe seven bombs began detonating at about 7:30 pm local time, with the last explosion coming only 12 minutes after the first. The bombs were located in the city's tourist spots, including a temple to the Hindu god Hanuman and a marketplace.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was briefed on the attacks and is calling for calm amid tense relations with Pakistan. Jaipur is located in India's northwestern region, near the border with New Delhi's predominantly Islamic neighbor.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi condemned the serial blasts in Jaipur, calling them a crime against humanity, according to Zeenews. She appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony in this "grave" hour.
