Dolphin's Jason Taylor's Return To Miami Delayed By "Stars"

Los Angeles, CA (AHN) -- There's a reason this story takes place in Los Angeles rather than Miami, and it's not one that football guru Bill Parcells is happy about. Jason Taylor, the defensive captain of the Miami Dolphins, will be missing all voluntary practices with his team in order to wrap up competition on "Dancing With The Stars."

The truth was, Taylor was surprised to have made it as far as he did. When he signed on, he didn't anticipate a conflict with his duties as the Miami Dolphin's team captain. He doesn't consider himself a dancer, and attributes most of his success to his partner, Edyta Sliwinska.

He danced for his last time on Monday, but the results show still holds him in Florida. For there, it's expected he will spend some time, hitting the big talk shows like Good Morning America and Regis And Kelly before finally returning to his team.

Jason Taylor wrote the following in his blog:

"I know what the reaction's going to be: Oh, he's the leader of that team, and he needs to be there. But, see, there're different types of leadership in sports. There're guys that can talk all the time, and try to lead by saying: "Oh, this is what we need to do, let's go, rah, rah rah.'' They're rah-rah guys. And then they're guys, like me, who lead by example. And people are saying now, "Your example should be being there working out with the team.'' Well, at the end of the day, I will show up and I will do anything I need to do, and I will be the best football player I can be."

The rumor mill has been spinning the possibility of a trade - Parcellis is known to have very limited patience with those who are not focused on football. And with Taylor schmoozing with the likes of Denzel Washington and other big Hollywood names, it's no wonder Taylor has fallen for the glimmer of Tinseltown.

"What an outstanding guy," Taylor said, with regards to Denzel. "I lost track of time sitting there talking to him and ended up being an hour and a half late for dance rehearsal."

Taylor expects to be back in Miami before mandatory practice begins, despite the ribbing he might take in the locker room.
