May 21, 2008 12:50 p.m. EST Ed Sutherland - AHN Editor Santa Clara, CA (AHN) - Intel said Tuesday it had reopened a microchip testing facility in China located just 50 miles from the center of the devastating earthquake. The Chengdu site produces three chips, the G31, G33 and 945GC. An Intel spokesman told CNET the chips tested at the site were undamaged and denied a report higher prices for the silicon may be an aftershock of the quake. A Taiwan report said the price of the chips would increase between $15 and $31, but the higher cost would be absorbed by motherboard manufacturers.
