Stockholm, Sweden (AHN) - Swedish police arrested two people on Wednesday for allegedly trying to sabotage a nuclear power plant. The two contractors were arrested when police found traces of explosives on one.

Both men are of Swedish nationality and have been working as contractors at the Oskarshamn nuclear plant in the south of Sweden for some time.

The identities of the men have not been revealed but police have said that one of them had a criminal record. The men were born in 1955 and 1962.

The men were working at one of the plant's three reactors as welders.

The police have sent sniffer dogs to check out the place where the two men have been working and 100 people were evacuated in the process.

Security measures have been beefed up after the incident and authorities are going once over their security routines.

The incident, however, did not affect the working of the plant.

Sweden has 10 nuclear reactors which produces half of all its electricity production.
