May 21, 2008 4:19 p.m. EST Amy Beeman - AHN Santa Fe, TX (AHN) -- Parents, students and faculty said they were shocked and dismayed after the news broke that nude photos of two young female students were circulated to dozens of students at Santa Fe Junior High School. According to reports, the girls took the photos of themselves, then sent them to their boyfriends via text messages. The boys then forwarded the photos, as did the recipients, until multiple students had received them. School officials confiscated the cell phones of dozens of students and deleted the photos, which one called "child pornography." The Houston Chronicle reported that because so many students are involved, it would be impossible to punish them all, and unfair if they were merely the recipient of the photo. The school board will concentrate on punishments for the two girls and boys who initiated the photos and shared them. They have not yet decided what that punishment will be. The students involved are in the seventh and eight grades. School officials are worried about where the photos could end up, such as on the Internet, and how it could effect the futures of the girls.
