Atlanta, GA (AHN) - The New York Mets announced on Tuesday that Ryan Church has been taken to a hospital for further tests, after the outfielder suffered another concussion in the team's 6-2 defeat against Atlanta.

Church was hurt on Tuesday night after he collided with the Braves' Yunel Escobar while trying to reach second base in a ninth-inning double play move. Escobar's knee hit Church's head, causing a large scrape on the veteran's forehead.

The outfielder didn't lose consciousness but was immediately advised to be taken to a hospital for more tests. It was Church's second concussion in the last three months, following a similar collision with teammate Marlon Anderson in a March spring training game.

Church's absence removes the Mets of one of their most productive players to start this season. He is currently hitting .311 with nine homers and 32 RBIs. The team did not release a timetable on his return from the injury.
