Tungurahua Volcano Explode 125 Times In Ecuador

Quito, Ecuador (AHN) - The Geophysics Institute (GI) of the National Polytechnic School in Ecuador reported Monday the Tungurahua volcano in Andes center has recorded 125 moderate seismic activities.

The GI said, "The volcanic activities continue with a high seismic level, mainly characterized by moderate explosions."

It also added they have recorded at least 32 quakes inside the mountain and 17 times of continuous after shocks.

Tungurahua volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Ecuador about 16,000 feet high.

The volcano is characterized by pyroclastic flows, lavas, lahars and tephra falls.

More than 25,000 residents are located at the foot of the volcano.
