Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Actress Lori Loughlin, who will play the mom on the CW spin-off of "Beverly Hills, 90210," is excited about the new show. Although Loughlin will reprise the role of the mother, she says she will not be another Cindy Walsh, the mother of the main characters played by Carol Potter, in the original show.

Loughlin, 43, will play Celia Mills, a wife, mom and photographer. She will have one biological child, a daughter played by Shenea Grimes, and an adoptive African-American son played by Tristan Wilds. Loughlin told People.com, "It's a contemporary family. It's fitting more of what's happening today in families."

Loughlin also called the new show "cooler, sexier and more provocative" than the original 90210. "It's not the Walsh family," she said, adding that it is the same premise of a family moving from the Midwest to California.

Loughlin said the new show will be like the old show in that it will center on a group of high school teenagers dealing with the ups and downs of today's world. According to People.com, she said, "The spin-off is a whole new group of younger kids. They're what teenagers are going through now in high school, and I'm the mom," Loughlin says. "It's going to be really good - a little more interesting - because you've got like the parents and their lives and Rob Estes is my husband. I'm very excited about that!"
