Bloomington, IN (AHN) - Celtics coach Doc Rivers confirmed on Tuesday that his son Jeremiah will play for Indiana after cutting his ties with Georgetown, where he played last season.

The younger Rivers picked IU instead of Georgia Tech and Central Florida in hopes that the Hoosiers will be a more perfect fit for his style of play. He will have to sit out the 2008-09 season but will be eligible to play for the following two years.

"It just wasn't a good fit for me at Georgetown, and I didn't feel like the offense was really showcasing my talents. I had worked hard at becoming a defensive specialist, and that's fine, but I feel like I'm capable of a lot more. I just needed to make a change," Rivers told the Indianapolis Star.

Last season, the point guard posted averages of 2.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and one assist per game.
