May 29, 2008 1:28 p.m. EST Ed Sutherland - AHN Editor New York, NY (AHN) - Internet provider Comcast is working with law enforcement to determine who hacked its Web portal starting late Wednesday evening. The unknown hackers attacked the company's Internet domain, leaving a message for Comcast subscribers checking mail or support. The attack reportedly left some of Comcast's 14.1 million customers unable to read e-mail on the comcast.net site. Hackers, using the screen names "Kryogeniks EBK" and "Defiant", left a message saying they had "RoXed" the Internet provider. By Thursday morning, the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Comcast had replaced the message with a screen saying "Page Under Construction." The site as of Thursday afternoon appeared back to normal. Comcast said it believed the hackers hijacked the site at Internet domain registrar Network Solutions, redirecting it elsewhere. A report earlier this month named Comcast, along with Cox Communications, as interfering with subscribers using file-sharing services, such as BitTorrent.
