Detroit, MI (AHN) - Amid the continuing gas crisis, Norway's Think Global is planning to sell its all-electric Think City automobile in the U.S. in 2009. The car will be priced under $25,000 and have a 110-mile range.

Think, based in Oslo, was sold by Ford in 2003. The auto giant, like others in the industry, is now rethinking its fleet of fuel-hungry trucks and SUVs.

Backed by investors, Think Global said it will target the electric car at densly-populated West Coast urban areas where an alternative to gas-powered vehicles makes more sense. Investors believe Think Global could sell up to 50,000 Think City vehicles each year in the U.S.

A second model, the Think Ox, will be unveiled after the car is introduced in 2010 in Europe. The Ox will be a SUV crossover that has a 150-mile range, Think Global CEO Jan-Olaf Willums told the Wall Street Journal.
