June 5, 2008 7:14 a.m. EST Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Following the letter Angelina Jolie's lawyers have circulated regarding an impostor spreading news about the actress, Entertainment Tonight has released a statement saying they are "actively investigating" the matter. The "Tomb Raider" star's legal reps have recently circulated a message to the media and public warning them of someone pretending to be her longtime assistant and spreading hoax news about her. ET has issued a statement saying they are the victim of the impostor after they had been sent an email regarding the faulty story of Jolie giving birth. The statement reads: "Entertainment Tonight takes this very seriously and is, of course, concerned that the show may have been victimized by someone allegedly posing as a member of Ms. Jolie's team. We are actively investigating the matter and are reaching out to law enforcement agencies." The celebrity news show also insisted that they were not informed of the falsity of the news until the lawyers sent out the message. However, the Associated Press reports that ET was told before it went on air on Friday that the news was bogus. And according to AP's sources, the show's producers were informed by Holly Goline, the pregnant star's real assistant that she did not sent the email before the Friday broadcast.
