Citibank Holds Seminar On Global Currencies And Commodities Markets In Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - Citibank is promoting working together in Bangladesh's commodities markets to make business more effective and competitive in the global market.

Citibank, N.A. Bangladesh, on Sunday held a seminar on `Global Currencies and Commodities Markets' at Citi Learning Center in the capital, Dhaka.

Considering the global outlook, Citi has taken this initiative to organize the seminar in order to update market knowledge that has become essential for the sound development of the financial system, a Citibank press statement says in Dhaka.

Annisul Huq, President, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI), the country's apex trade body, inaugurated the seminar as the chief guest.

Also present from Citibank were Mamun Rashid, Managing Director and Citi Country Officer, Bangladesh, Sajedul Islam, Country Treasurer & Head of Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities (Current Charge), Citibank, N.A. Bangladesh and other senior officials.

In his inaugural speech, Annisul Huq said: "Working together we hope to introduce more products into the market, make all of our business more effective and ultimately strive to become more competitive in the international arena".

Mamun Rashid stressed the need for better understanding on global currencies and commodities markets and impact of globalization in the international market.

Sajedul Islam and Faiz Mahbub, Manager, Corporate Sales & Structuring, Citibank, N.A. Bangladesh conducted the sessions where 50 persons from corporate houses, regulatory bodies, ministries, and international agencies attended the seminar.

For commodities and credit, Citi maintained the number one spot as the region's best provider in Asiamoney's Structured Polls for 2008. In Bangladesh also Citibank has been providing `best in the class' product solutions for its esteemed corporate and institutional clients for over a decade and based on its global reach is committed to bring the most innovative solution on a continuous basis, according to the statements.
