New York, NY (AHN) - U.S. markets are trying to hold on to early gains coming into Thursday's session close. All three major indices are currently off their morning highs.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is currently trading higher 45 points at 12,130, off roughly 130 points from the intraday high of 12,260.

The S&P 500 is up 3 points or 0.25 percent while the Nasdaq Composite currently has a gain of 5 points or 0.20 percent.

A better than expected retail sales number help lift markets early. Sales showed a 1 percent increase in the month of May, the markets expected 0.6 percent growth.

Crude Oil was negative for most of the Thursday but has rebounded off late, just recently going positive for the day.

The afternoon selling in all three major indices has continued as oil has rebounded.
