Suffolk County, NY (CNS) - Rapper superstar 50 Cent has served his ex girlfriend with a $20 million defamation lawsuit for alleged false and offensive statements about him.

Shaniqua Tompkins was served Friday outside a Suffolk County, New York court after she made defamatory statements against the rapper - real name Curtis Jackson - claiming he tried to kill her and their son by setting the fire that burned down Jackson's Long Island home on May 30.

While the fire department officials ruled the house fire "suspicious," they still haven't ruled it as arson.

Tompkins and their 10-year-old son Marquise was living at the residence at the time of the fire. Soon after they survived the incident, the ex-girlfriend held a press conference accusing the rapper of "trying to kill" her and Marquise.

She also repeated her statement to People magazine outside the courtroom saying, "He always threatened me."

"If someone threatens you on Monday and you jump out of a second floor window on Friday, that's the facts, you decide."

But the hip hop star's lawyer, Brett Kimmel, denies that the allegations saying that his client was in Louisiana filming "Microwave Park" with Sharon Stone during the incident.

Kimmel also says that Tompkins also allegedly prevented his client from seeing his son by not disclosing their new address.

The ex-couple are scheduled to appear in court on July 17.
