Ed Sutherland - AHN Editor New York, NY (AHN) - Online advertising spending will hit $65 billion this year, accounting for 10 percent of all advertising, a market research firm said Wednesday. Internet advertising is expected to be worth more than $106 billion by 2011, comprising 14 percent of all ad sales, according to IDC. The study said online advertising will grow between 15 percent and 20 percent with search advertising such as those from Google dominating the market. Although the U.S. will lead online ad spending at $45 billion in 2011, Central and Eastern Europe will experience 42 percent annual growth with Western Europe getting the most attention from advertisers, according to the study. IDC also said almost a third of the world's population will use the Internet often by 2012 with mobile devices passing PCs as the most common vehicle for getting online.
