San Diego, CA (CNS) - The movie scene in "Top Gun" when Tom Cruise serenaded Kelly McGillis in a bar and dozens of men in uniform joined in on "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" will be forever etched in the minds of many movie goers. The restaurant where the scene was filmed, however, is no more.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department has reported that the landmark restaurant burned to the ground. A cook at Kansas City Barbecue said the blaze started Thursday in an open cooking pit and spread quickly to the restaurant's interior.

No one was injured and the fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes. The building was completely destroyed, however.

A sign in the restaurant noted that the 1986 movie's "sleazy bar scene" was filmed there. The Fire-Rescue Department is estimating the damages at $400,000, not including the costs of photographs and props used in the film.
