June 30, 2008 10:32 p.m. EST Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service New York, NY (CNS) - Edie Falco, former star of "The Sopranos," has started filming her new dark situation comedy in New York, under the tentative name of "Nurse Jackie." The show will feature some familiar faces, including nurse Jackie's boyfriend, the former Father Phil on "The Sopranos," played by Paul Schulze. The series, which will air on Showtime, has Schulze playing the boyfriend of Eddie, who works in the hospital in the pharmacy. It's the wrong place for him to work since nurse Jackie has a problem with drugs. Other actors in the pilot include Anna Deavere Smith, from the "West Wing," as the hospital administrator, Mrs. Akalitus. Merritt Wever, from "NCIS," will play Zoey, a young nurse who works with Jackie, and Haaz Sleiman will play a gay Muslim nurse. Sleiman is formerly of "Veronica Mars." According to the show, Jackie's character "has an almost-clairvoyant ability to figure out what's wrong with her patients even before doctors can -- making her a much-sought-after commodity in the ER." The show may be on the air as early as Spring 2009.
