July 1, 2008 10:20 a.m. EST Ed Sutherland - AHN Editor New York, NY AHN) - Warner Music, the recording company behind REM, Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers, has signed a deal with Nokia, making it the latest publisher to join the cell phone giant's upcoming Comes with Music service. The service, to be available later in 2008 on some Nokia phones, will allow consumers to download unlimited songs from Warner, Sony-BMG and Universal Music for a year. The hope on Nokia's part is that customers will subscribe to the service after the 12 months expires. In a statement, Warner Music CEO Edgar Bronfman called the agreement the most important cell phone distribution agreement the company has inked. Only EMI has yet to sign onto the service. The agreement follows a pact between Verizon Wireless and music service Rhapsody allowing Verizon cell phone users to download unlimited songs for a monthly subscription.
