Hollywood, CA (CNS) - "Hancock" and "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl" are the big movie releases this week, both hitting theaters Wednesday.

"Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson," "Tell No One," and "The Wackness" also open in selected theaters this week.

In the comedy "Hancock," Will Smith stars as Hancock, a superhero disliked by the public. After he saves the life of PR exec Ray (Jason Bateman), Ray helps Hancock repair his public image. Things get complicated when Hancock falls for Ray's wife, played by Charlize Theron.

The "American Girl" franchise, which entails a line of dolls and accessories geared towards pre-teens, hits the big screen this week with "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl." The comedy-drama starring Abigail Breslin ("Little Miss Sunshine") is based on Kit Kittredge, an "American Girl" character growing up during The Great Depression.

"Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson" is a documentary about journalist Hunter S. Thompson. The film stars Thompson himself and Sonny Barger.

The thriller "Tell No One" centers around a grieving pediatrician, Alex, whose wife was murdered eight years earlier. The police open the case back up and name Alex a suspect, and things get creepy when he receives a video clip that suggests his wife may still be alive.

Teen comedy-drama "The Wackness" centers around a troubled teen drug dealer, played by Josh Peck ("Drake & Josh"), who falls for his therapist's daughter. Ben Kingsley, Famke Janssen and Mary-Kate Olsen also star.

The movies will join "WALL-E," "Wanted," "Get Smart," "Kung Fu Panda," "The Incredible Hulk" and other movies already in theaters.
