July 3, 2008 11:52 a.m. EST Ed Sutherland - AHN Editor London, UK (AHN) - Downloads of Mozilla's Firefox 3 browser have broken all records for the number of downloads in one day, according to Guinness, the keeper of Guinness World Records. The record-keeper and Mountain View, Calif.-based Mozilla Foundation, said 8,002,530 downloads were logged in June for Firefox 3, the latest version of the open-source Internet application. Downloads for the new Firefox quickly outpaced demand for the previous version 2, passing 1.6 million downloads for the 2006 browser in five hours of first becoming available, reports said. Although Firefox 3 experienced record demand, workers at the Mozilla Foundation said they won't open celebrate until they receive the official certificate in London next week.
