Florida Gov. Crist Engaged

Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Florida Gov. Charlie Crist is engaged to Carole Rome, the former wife of Bluestar Jets Chief Executive Todd Rome.

The 51-year old bachelor proposed to Rome, his girlfriend of nine months, on Thursday using a sapphire and diamond ring he bought the previous day at the Gold and Diamond Center in St. Petersburg.

"I'm very happy and couldn't be more pleased. What a great way to celebrate America's birthday," Crist told ABC.

Crist, who is reported to be in the running as Sen. John McCain's (R-AZ) VP, has not yet decided on a wedding date.
