Bentonville, AR (AHN) - On June 30, Wal-Mart Stores officially released the new company logo. Come fall, the logo customers have become familiar with on store fronts over the last 17 years will be gone.

The new logo no longer sports a star used as a hyphen. The bold capital letters are gone as well, replaced with lowercase somewhat rounded characters. Also listed under the Wal-Mart name will now be the phrase "Save money. Live Better"

According to BusinessWeek, the company said that in the fall "Walmart's U.S. locations will update store logos as part of an ongoing evolution of its overall brand."

The move comes as the retail giant tries to improve its image as an environmentally friendly company.

Wal-Mart recently lost a Minnesota labor case that could cost the company up to $2 billion in damages.

The updated logo can be seen at www.walmart.com.
