July 5, 2008 12:12 p.m. EST Jojo Doria - AHN London, England (AHN) - Venus Williams powered her way to a historic fifth title in Wimbledon after beating her sister, Serena in straight sets in the final at the All England Club Saturday. The 28-year-old Venus, who lost to Serena in the Wimbledon finals of 2002 and 2003, battled from a shaky start, down 4-2 in the first, before taking the set and the game 7-5, 6-4 on Center Court. Serena, who had won five of her previous six Grand Slam finals against her older sister, seemed to find her form after converting her seventh break point in the third game of the second. But the defending champion immediately countered to level play before allowing Serena serve at 4-5. The younger Williams, however, managed to produce an ace to save the first one. but not on the second, after countering with a wide backhand shot to help Venus eventually triumph. Venus becomes one of only four players to win the trophy five times in the Open era.
