July 5, 2008 2:19 p.m. EST Amy Beeman - AHN Toledo, OH (AHN) -- More than 100 people are homeless after a fire early Saturday morning destroyed 11 buildings in a Toledo, Ohio apartment complex. According to reports, fire officials suspect that the blaze was ignited by fireworks, and began at approximately 1:30 a.m. The fire was contained by 5:30 Saturday morning. No injuries were reported for residents or firefighters. Fire officials told reporters that the fire spread quickly through the attics of the connected buildings. Evacuees have taken temporary shelter at a local high school. The remains of the buildings will begin being torn down Saturday.
