Rodriguez, Ramirez, Hamilton Head Up AL All-Star Selections

New York, NY (AHN) -- It's that time again. The time where old rivalries are put aside in the interests of giving baseball fans one game where the best of the best take the diamond, and show all of us how this game is really played.

The American League elected representatives are a true tossed salad of experience and potential: From Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez, each arriving for their 12th All Star game, to Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, and Josh Hamilton making their 1st debut appearances.

The leading contributors of talent are the Red Sox and Yankees, who account for 6 of the 9 elected players - it may be the only time Red Sox players are cheered for in Yankee Stadium, as the Yanks will host the game this year.

Five more contenders remain to be chosen, as the Monster All-Star Final Vote will determine who gets the perverbial wild card - chosen by the fans, to play for the fans.

The choices are Jermaine Dye, CWS, Jason Giambi, NYY, Jose Guillen, KC, Evan Longoria, TB, and Brian Roberts, BAL.

Interestingly enough, Evan Longoria and reservist Dioner Navarro are the only potential Devil Rays to be elected in the All-Star Game, despite their dominating standing in the American League. As far as pitching goes, however, Rays Scott Kazmir is on the roster.
