July 8, 2008 8:06 a.m. EST Norman Vergara - AHN Sports Writer Seattle, WA (AHN) - Seattle Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu was ordered to serve one day in prison after pleading guilty Monday to driving under the influence in a May incident. The Kirkland Municipal Court, under Judge Michael Lambo, handed down the verdict and also ordered the third-year player to pay fines and court costs totaling $1,255. The charges stemmed from an arrest on May 10, when Tatupu was caught by authorities driving 50 mph more than the allowed 35-mph limit in Kirkland. He was arrested and taken to the police station, where his alcohol concentration turned out at 0.155 and 0.158, nearly double the 0.08 legal limit. "I again want to apologize to my family, teammates, the Seahawks ownership and organization, and the fans for making a poor decision and putting myself in a bad situation," Tatupu said in a statement. While awaiting the court's decision, Tatupu successfully completed alcohol information school and also attended a DUI victim's panel. He had initially pleaded not guilty of the charge but changed his plea Monday. Tatupu, who earned a six-year, $42 million contract extension in March, has not missed a game during his three years with the Seahawks. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, the USC alum has piled up 337 tackles with six-and-a-half sacks and eight interceptions.
