San Francisco, CA (AHN) - A group of residents in San Francisco is proposing to rename a sewage plant after President George W. Bush as a "tribute to the leader who plumbed the nation to incompetence."
Brian McConnell, a member of the Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco and one of the proponents of the proposal, said the move has already generated support of over 10,000 signatures which they will submit before election officials to put the issue on the November ballot.
The proposal needs only 7,000 valid names to be considered for balloting.
McConnel said, "We think that it's important to remember our leaders in the right historical context. In President Bush's case, we think that we will be cleaning up a substantial mess for the next 10 or 20 years. The sewage treatment facility's job is to clean up a mess, so we think it's a fitting tribute."
According to the group, the mess includes the clean up of the Iraq war and the economic problems facing the nation.
