July 19, 2008 2:26 p.m. EST Amy Beeman - AHN Wilkinsburg, PA (AHN) -- Medical examiners in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania said Saturday that the woman's body found in the apartment of a notorious baby stealer had her uterus cut open and had been eviscerated. The new findings are the latest twist in the disturbing story that began when Andrea Curry-Demus, 38, took a newborn baby boy to the hospital, claiming she had given birth to him. Upon a medical examination, hospital staff realized Curry-Demus was lying. She then claimed that she had paid $1000 for the infant. According to reports, while authorities tried to find the biological mother, reporters at the scene of Curry-Demus's apartment noticed a swarm of flies and a foul-odor coming from her home and alerted police who discovered the body of a woman face down with her wrists duct-taped. Coroners estimated the woman had been dead for about 24 hours. The dead woman has not yet been identified, and police are not certain if it is the same woman, Tina, who Curry-Demus allegedly bought the baby from. Curry-Demus had told friends and family that she was pregnant. According to police, she said she miscarried but did not want to tell her mother, so she pretended to still be pregnant and worked out the deal with Tina. In 1990 Curry-Demus stabbed a woman in an alleged attempt to steal her infant. The day after the stabbing, she successfully took a baby from a hospital room, but police found the infant hours later in her apartment unharmed. She plead guilty to those actions and others and spent several years in prison until she was released on probation in 1998. Curry-Demus is in police custody pending a $10,000 bond and a psychological exam.
