July 22, 2008 7:58 p.m. EST Matthew Harvey - AHN Sports Reporter Cincinnati, Ohio (AHN) -- While Chad Johnson will indeed be attending team practices, his ankles are still bothering him. It's likely he will not be a very productive member at training camp while he continues to heal. Johnson had surgery on both his ankles last month, after performing at the minicamp and being in distress. He underwent arthroscopic surgery in June, and was expected to make a full recovery by training camp. Unfortunately, it's just not the case. The first practice is rolling around Monday, July 28th, and it's just not looking like Johnson will be rearing to go by then. During an online interview at ESPN.com, he told his fans that his ankles were far from 100%. He remains hopeful for the start of exhibition, however. Johnson's initial refusal to play for the Bengals earned him a great deal of camera time this offseason. He wished to be traded almost immediately - and the Bengals entertained many offers for him. They flat-out said he wasn't for sale. Much to the relief of his teammates and owners, Johnson has backed down and has returned to the roster, wishing to play rather than sit a year. The 30 year old wide receiver caught 93 passes for 1,440 yards last season.
