Hawks' Childress To Hoop In Europe; Greek Club Offers Three-Year, $20 Million Deal

Atlanta, GA. (AHN) - Atlanta Hawks free agent Josh Childress is headed overseas rather than play in the NBA this coming season.

Greek club Olympiakos reportedly offered Childress a three-year deal worth about $20 million.

The Hawks offered a five- year contract for $36 million, including incentives.

However, they cannot offer more than $5.6 for next year due to salary cap restrictions.

Due to the NBA rules, the Hawks did not have the ability to match the Greek Team's offer.

Given the increasing value of Euros over the decreasing dollar, it is likely to net even more value for the former Wake Forest star, who averaged over 11 points last season in Atlanta.
