New Orleans, LA (AHN)--Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who is often included on Republican presidential nominee John McCain's shortlist of possible running mates, said on Wednesday he will not seek the vice presidency, preferring instead to continue to his work as governor of Louisiana.

Brushing off speculation about a possible vice presidency, 37-year-old Jindal told reporters, "I've got the job that I want."

Speaking in unusually blunt terms, Jindal, who normally shies away from discussing McCain's for a running mate, said "I'm not going to be the vice president. I'm not going to be the nominee. But I'm going to do everything I can to help the senator get elected. I'm going to do that being governor of Louisiana. . . . He's got several great choices to pick from."

Jindal, who is slated to speak with McCain on Wednesday during a stopover in Louisiana, said that he fully supports a McCain presidency and said he would do all in his power to help his fellow Republican win the White House in November.
