July 24, 2008 5:58 a.m. EST Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer New York, NY (CNS) - You know you're as big as the celebrities you insult and mock when a musical about you is being staged. Perez Hilton becomes the inspiration behind a new musical. The celebrity blogger, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira Jr., becomes a musical - for real! On August 8 until 14, the "Perez Hilton Saves the Universe! (or at least the greater Los Angeles are): The Musical" will be running at the New York International Fringe Festival. Described as a show exploring Hilton's every day life, with evil terrorists and Kathy Griffin on the side, it will focus on his fight with demons, ego, and celebrities while saving Los Angeles at the same time from a nuclear disaster. He may not be the most lovable blogger on the Web, but let's admit it, we, and millions others, read his posts. We may berate him on his own comment page to let him know we are disgusted with his hurtful comments about Jennifer Aniston or any other celebrities (and they are increasing in number) he seems to hate for whatever reason he concocted up himself. But that's exactly what he wants, your click on his website to increase his traffic and ever growing popularity. So it's no wonder when a stage play has been produced with him as the muse. We may all hate him but he sells, and that's exactly what they are hoping to happen with the tickets. Although, if reports are true, his Hot Topic clothing line failed to deliver the expected sales. His website might be nice or nasty, depending on who he's writing on, but just like junk foods, one can't help but munch on it continuously although you know it's no good to you. That's the thing with celebrities, as long as we talk about them, doesn't matter if it's nice or downright nasty, they become popular even more. And Hilton, whether we like it or not, has become a celebrity in his own right.
