Vittorio Hernandez - AHN News Writer Frankfurt, Germany (AHN) - Lufthansa is starting to feel the crippling effect of the Ver.di Union-led strike which entered its fourth day. The industrial action has resulted in the cancellation of 10 percent or 136 flights, which included long-haul trips. Included in the canceled trips were flights to New York, Washington and Atlanta in the U.S. and Calgary in Canada, said Lufthansa spokesman Aage Duenhaupt. The German air carrier rebooked the passengers affected by the job walk off on other Lufthansa flights or with partner airlines. On Wednesday, the embattled air carrier canceled 12 long-haul and 70 short-haul trips. About 5,000 ground and cabin employees have joined the strike, which will most likely last indefinitely until Lufthansa comes to the negotiating table with a new offer higher than its 6.7 percent wage-hike proposal.
