West Pont, NY (AHN) -- Army football coach Stan Brock had follow-up treatment for prostrate cancer last week.

In a statement, Brock said he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July, but that surgery last week was a success.

"Fortunately, it appears the doctors were able to diagnose things early and they expect me to enjoy a complete recovery," Brock said in his statement. "I am excited to return to coach the team during preseason camp and expect to be back out on the practice field next week."

Brock attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he was selected All-American by The Sporting News. He was an offensive tackle, and was selected to the Big Eight Conference.

He was drafted into the NFL in 1980, and played with the Saints until 1992. He finished his career with the Chargers, 1993-1995, and got to play in Super Bowl XXIX.

His coaching career began in 1997, when he was hired in Arena Football. He began with the Portland Forest Dragons (1997-1999) and went to the Los Angeles Avengers. In 2007, he was hired to be the head coach at Army.
