Luxembourg (AHN) - Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal will build a $600 million steel mill in Mexico and buy a coke plant in Pennsylvania.

Indian Infoline reported that the steel mill will produce carbon steel and bars including rebar, merchant bar quality and special bar quality products for construction and car-making.

The mill will produce one million metric tons a year of steel billet and will have a bar rolling capacity of 500,000 tons. However, a site has yet to be selected.

ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steelmaker, also agreed to acquire the Kopper's Monessen coke plant in Pennsylvania from Koppers Inc. for $160 million.
