Mitchell Jaworski - AHN Reporter New York, NY (AHN) - JetBlue announced Monday it will do away with free blankets and disposable pillows and offer a $7 dollar travel blanket and pillow kit on flights of two hours and more. During a period when airlines are looking to generate revenue in every facet available, JetBlue is the first airline to charge for a pillow and blanket. Designed by CleanBrands LLC, the pillow and blanket are said to ward off dust mites, pollen and pet dander. A $5 coupon to Bed Bath & Beyond is included with the kit. "Clean, healthy sleep should not be limited to just terra firma," said President Gary Goldberg, in a prepared statement, according to TheStreet.com. JetBlue has already bumped their revenue by adding a charge for a second checked bag and by charging more for seats with additional leg room. The company said the $15 charge for a second bag will add roughly $20 million to revenue in 2008. Shares of JetBlue rose 3.6 percent on Monday to $5.45 a share.
